A Bedtime Story For @SawyerRe

Did you know that a Ruby-Throated Humming birds heart can beat 1200 beats per minute? Well, for this particular Humming bird it must have been twice that because he spotted the most beautiful female he had ever seen in his life. She was so pale and soft looking. Her eyes green, gentle and dark; they seemed to light up like they were smiling when she was happy. Oh and her hair, dark and red like the flowers he loved so much.

You see, this particular humming bird was not in love with another humming bird. He was in love with a human girl; her name was Glenna. She hummed quietly to herself as she tended to her rose garden, unaware of her secret admirer watching her from behind the man made feeder that she filled every morning for him.

Every day he would come and visit her and every morning she would watch him at his feeder. Sometimes the hummingbird would get brave and venture closer to her and she’d chuckle at him as he sped off just as he got close enough for her to reach out for him.

But today, today would be different he vowed. As his tiny little wings beat against his frail body his speedy little heart seemed to do a jump as he darted in her direction. It took half a blink of an eye and he was by her side. At first she went to flinch, mistaking the hum of his wings to be that of a bee, but then she saw the green shimmer of his coat and the ruby collar around his throat and smiled. Turning her head back to her task she made no other notice of him aside from the smile on her face.

Then without the slightest of weight change he landed softly on her shoulder. It felt weird to Glenna having the tiny little bird perched on her as she clipped at the leaves of her roses but at the same time very comforting. She giggled under her breath as she swore she saw the hummingbird take a deep breath and then exhale as if satisfied.

From that moment on, where ever Glenna was in her garden the humming bird would be there too; by her side.
